Ushuaia

Known as the city of the End of the World, Ushuaia astonishes visitors from the first moment due to its beautiful landscapes, and because it’s a city full of activities and services that meet all the needs of tourists.

Located on the shore of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Andes Fueguinos in the Great Island of the Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia has a stunning frame of sea, forests, lakes, mountains and glaciers, which makes it unique. This land of adventures, legends and fantasies, which name means “bay overlooking the West”, astonishes visitors due to the diversity of activities, with unexplored surroundings that invite visitors to discovery and adventure. In this regard, a place that cannot be missed is Tierra del Fuego National Park, with typical animal and vegetal species and important testimonies from the first inhabitants of the region, where visitors will be able to enjoy the view of the Fagnano and Roca lakes. Some of the main activities to be done in this privileged place are related with nature. In fact, outdoor activities are practiced during summer and winter times, with valleys, mountains, glaciers, rivers, lakes and forests as background. It’s common to see visitors practicing trekking, rock and ice climbing, alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboard, kayak, horse riding, mountain bike, 4x4 trailing, overflights, fishing or dog sleds, among others.

Currently, Ushuaia is known as the last link of the Austral Tourist corridor, made up by Bariloche and El Calafate in Argentina, and Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, as well as being the gateway to the incredible Antarctic continent and the island of the South Atlantic. The rich history of this city can be known by visiting its different museums, which cover the major events of the area, as well as the customs of its original inhabitants, settlers, pirates, adventurers, pioneers and founders, to this date. The southern extreme of Patagonia offers tourist resources unique in the world. A land of legends that many audacious spirits in the world have dreamt to travel. A land rather bleak, barren, inhabited only by those who have accepted to challenge of loneliness and the only company of nature at its best. Due to its geographical position, it is exposed to strong winds, which is proven by its low constructions and the lack of vegetation in the cities, whose only trees grow bent following the wind direction and are thus called "flag-trees" for the shape they adopt.
